THE SPIRITUAL SUCCESS OF THE 49th EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS
Father Raymond J. de Souza on the Catholic
Church in Quebec: A New Foundation
“I feel as if I was raised from the dead,” said Cardinal Marc Ouellet, Archbishop of Quebec, demonstrating that it was not only the young who were deeply affected by the week-long congress. “I believe that we have reached a turning point in the history of the Catholic Church in Quebec.”
Cardinal Ouellet is not customarily a man of extravagant rhetoric, so his words indicate that something important is afoot. The quadrennial Eucharistic congresses are planned years in advance, so when it was announced in 2004 in Guadalajara, Mexico, that Quebec would be the next host, no one could have known that Quebec society was about to begin a contentious conversation about its culture and identity.

Cardinal: New Evangelization Needs Journalists
Calls Catholic Media "Instruments of Hope"
TORONTO, MAY 30, 2008 (Zenit.org).-
The New Evangelization needs journalists to penetrate the current media-driven
society, says Cardinal Marc Ouellet.
In the closing address of the Catholic Media Convention 2008, the archbishop of
Quebec added that the New Evangelization is "the greatest challenge facing the
Church at the beginning of the new millennium."
***
Cardinal Ouellet expressed enthusiasm about the media's potential: "One might
even say that seeking and presenting the truth about humanity constitutes the
highest vocation of social communication. Utilizing for this purpose the many
refined and engaging techniques that the media have at their disposal is an
exciting task."
He concluded asking for prayers not only for more vocations to the priesthood,
consecrated life and married life, but also vocations to the "noble calling of
Catholic journalists, communicators and media agents."
Cardinal Ouellet's Address on the Media
TORONTO, MAY 30, 2008 (Zenit.org).-
The full text of the address that Cardinal Marc Ouellet delivered today to the
Catholic Media Convention 2008 is available on the ZENIT Web site.
The theme of the congress, which ends today in Toronto, is "Proclaim it From the
Rooftops." Cardinal Ouellet's talk is titled "The New Evangelization and the
Mass Media.

" We Have
But One Teacher, Jesus Christ"
The Catechism of
The Catholic Church is an excellent guideline and
resource to rekindle our
knowledge of what the Church teaches. Pope John Paul II
in his Catechesi Tradendae, which is the Catechesis In
Our Time Transmitting Christ's Teachings
- transmits the intention
for one not
to do one's own teaching or that of some other master, but rather the teaching
of Jesus Christ, the truth that He communicates or, to put it more precisely,
the truth that He is. Every catechist should be able to apply to himself the
mysterious words
of Jesus. " My teaching
is not mine, but His who sent Me." (cf. Catechesi Tradendae )
JANUARY 1, 2004.
FEAST OF THE MOTHERHOOD OF MARY
This web site is dedicated to
MARY, MOTHER OF GOD and the INFANT JESUS OF PRAGUE in
thanksgiving for the gifts of faith and healing.
Let us pray, that
through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the Lord will raise a sound international
group promoting devotion to Mary, as Mother of the Church. Jesus himself crowned
her as Queen of Heaven and Earth thereby proclaiming, She is Mother of all
people. May those who hunger, through the guidance and gifts of the Holy Spirit,
be fed by the abundant grace of God.
Some time ago my attention was drawn to a
prayer similar to this. This prayer came as an
invitation suggesting
that clergy and lay members of the Body of Christ embrace and renew devotions to
Mary that are faithful to the teachings of the Magesterium.
The Ecumenical
Council of Vatican II has reaffirmed Mary as Mother of the Church, Mother
of
God and promoted due honor and devotion to Mary in the name of Jesus.
We implore the guidance of the Holy Spirit in this
service, to do what is pleasing for the glory of
God in thanksgiving.
Recent media messages from the Holy Father have highlighted the need for laity
to communicate
and relay the fascination of the Gospel . Pope John Paul II says
each person as true disciples of
Jesus, must apply himself tirelessly to
following His teachings.
The mission of this lay apostolate web media,
is to promote fidelity to the
teachings of the Catholic Church,, the Pope, to Bishops and clergy. We ask for prayers of support
and encouragement
for and from Bishops, priests and the laity.
LAY
APOSTOLATE
John Paul II Homily
6/16/85
"The lay
person, aware of the vocation of the apostolate, will never seek to act in
discord, to
exalt his independence from the Magisterium, will not assume as
source
of his proclamation his own subjective experience of faith but will seek
from the doctrine proclaimed by the Church
the strength of truth - revealed,
assimilated
and lived with total fidelity."
THROUGH
SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
This web
site is operated under and submissive to spiritual direction . Through the process of past spiritual
direction, fruits of knowledge have been gained and it is our hope to share the
benefits of
the process with you. In evaluation of a wide variety of information
that we encounter, the faithful
are encouraged to root their faith in sound
Catholic teachings. Much spiritual growth can be gained from reading, and
studying the Holy Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and lives of
Canonized Saints.
The Sacraments, prayer, recognized devotions and the Marian
Doctrines have sufficient riches to feed the souls of all who hunger. These
spiritual tools aid in providing a secure path towards salvation, rather than
following all kinds of strange teachings.
"Do not be
carried away by all kinds of strange teaching. It is good to
have our hearts
strengthened by grace and not by foods, which do
not benefit those who live by them"(Hebrews
13:9)
Pope John Paul II
called for a "Springtime of World Evangelization"
His
Holiness also said we must first evangelize ourselves as Catholics, so we will
be in better position to witness to the world by word and
example. Christifideles Laici. "
If
catechesis is done well, Christians will be eager to bear witness to their
faith,
to hand it on to their children,
to
make it known to others, and to serve the human community in every way."
Words of Pope John Paul
II,taken from 'Catechisesi Tradendae'
His message
has been relayed to clergy as well as the laity, for a greater revival of
catechesis. Pope
John Paul particular focused on families,
as they are the first
teachers of faith to the children,
with
the aid of the pastor and teachers.
Adequate knowledge is needed in defining what
the Catholic Church teaches,
which aids the faithful in forming a good conscience
and enables the faithful to
respond to moral choices in a time when
truth,,
materialism and relativism are marginalizing Biblical principles. There is a
time for silence, a time to
speak, a time to
pray, and a time to respond by proclaiming the gift of faith that God has
given us.
We
are not
requesting financial support.We
do ask for
your prayers of support.
God Bless.
